Mike Flanagan is back with his latest horror offering, The Fall of the House of Usher. The series is a loose adaptation of a short story with the same title and other works by Edgar Allan Poe.

Here is the synopsis of The Fall of the House of Usher.
The Fall of the House of Usher begins with the Usher family's anxiety because their family members one by one suddenly died in such a brutal and mysterious way.

Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) was the corrupt CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. He lost all six of his children, including Frederick (Henry Thomas) who became the heir.

Then there's entrepreneur Tamerlane (Samantha Sloyan), surgeon Victorine (T'Nia Miller), gaming mogul Leo (Rahul Kohli), PR head Camille (Kate Siegel), and socialite Perry (Sauriyan Sapkota).

All the sad news and horrific events happened within a span of two weeks. Roderick then attends the funerals of his last three deceased children, accompanied by his sister and Fortunato COO Madeline (Mary McDonnell).

This led Roderick to invite his nemesis, assistant U.S. Attorney C. Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumblu), to his childhood home to recount his crimes and discuss the deaths of his children.

Roderick confesses that in 1962, his and Madeline's mother, Eliza (Annabeth Gish), died but unexpectedly resurrected. During life, their mother worked as a secretary to Fortunato CEO William Longfellow (Robert Longstreet).

After resurrecting, Eliza kills William Longfellow, her cruel former employer. However, Roderick is convinced William is his and Madeline's biological father.

From that point until the death of his children, Roderick mentions one name, namely Verna (Carla Gugino), the mysterious woman who once predicted changes at a New Year's party in 1980.

In The Fall of the House of Usher, Mike Flanagan serves as both director and creator. Before airing on streaming services, the gothic horror series released its first two episodes at Fantastic Fest in September 2023.

In total, the series has eight episodes that were immediately released on October 12. The Fall of the House of Usher airs on Netflix.
