A big win for flexible work for countless Australian workers starting today
Unbeknownst to many Australian workers, today is a very important day in our post-Covid world of work.
For the first time, most Australian workers will have the right to refuse flexible work requests.
While that sounds like a legal technicality, it's actually a very significant change to a law that was passed late last year but only came into force today.
We all know that Covid showed that workers can work flexibly in ways never thought before.
Working flexibly is not just about working from home as it is commonly portrayed.
That means being able to change your hours, change your days, and even work part time after the birth of a child.
Of course, we saw during the Covid outbreak a dramatic change in the way people work for a large part of our workforce.
